About the festival

The Ullinsvin Wool Festival is organized by Vågå ull AS and Vågå Husflidslag in 2026! Here we will highlight Norwegian wool and Norwegian sheep. With courses, a market, and lectures, you can gain a lot of knowledge by participating in the Ullinsvin Wool Festival.

  • The joy of creating

We who make handicrafts get enormous creative joy from making something beautiful. We make something useful, warm, and something that can be enjoyed for a long time to come. To get good products that last, we need a good raw material – and for us, that's Norwegian wool.

  • The raw material

Norwegian wool has an undeservedly bad reputation. Previously, it was of a coarser quality and itched more. Over the last 50-60 years, active breeding work has been carried out to improve quality, and this has helped. Many large players, such as Gudbrandsdal Woolen Mill, Rauma Yarn, and Hillesvåg Woolen Mill, have done and continue to do a great job of promoting Norwegian wool as a good and sustainable brand. We must not forget the smaller producers, who have to use the wool they get; from many small to larger producers, they spin yarn from many different wool qualities and create products that show how all the wool from the sheep can be utilized.

  • The knowledge

The courses and activities also reflect the original. Traditional techniques whose knowledge we want to pass on.

There will be courses in spinning, needle felting, leather sewing, plant dyeing, wool embroidery, an introduction to tablet weaving, courses in spinning wheel repair and courses on how to knit garments with a good fit.

There will also be a spinning wheel workshop in Ullinsvin, come and see Rokke-mo spinning wheels with Kai and Jostein.

  • Activities and market

During the festival there will be workshops, a market, lectures, and a guided tour to the craft garden at Lalm.
