This course is suitable for beginners. In this course, you will learn to plan and execute simple tablet weaving using a backstrap. Bring a stitch holder and a belt or band to wear around your waist to attach the loom to. The instructor will provide everything else you need, but if you have your own tablets and strong, smooth yarn for weaving, feel free to bring them. Otherwise, you can purchase a material kit from the instructor.
Course plan: 1. What is tablet weaving and how does it work? 2. Different types of yarn and tools. Examples of bands. 3. Following and drawing patterns. 4. Warping. 5. Weaving. 6. Finishing.
The course lasts 10 hours over 3 sessions.

Unni Strand is a trained art and crafts teacher with a specialization in weaving from Oslo University College and has 25 years of experience as a high school teacher.
